Why I am a Champion for this Cause
As a passionate supporter of The Learning Web’s work, I am participating as a Champion in Fuel The Learning Web Spark! In this fundraiser, I created a personal challenge and a fundraising goal. I have a limited time to attain my challenge and to ask friends, family and co-workers to acknowledge the importance of identifying and fulfilling personal goals by making donations to The Learning Web—thus supporting Tompkins County youth as they explore and achieve their personal challenges, dreams, goals, and passions. Please learn about my challenge and how you can support me and The Learning Web:
Over the past 20 years I’ve had a connection to The Learning Web. In my various work capacities, I’ve referred middle schoolers to The Learning Web’s community service program, young offenders from the Community Justice Center to Youth Outreach so that they could get help finding affordable housing, and high school students to explore their interests through The Learning Web’s apprenticeship program. And, 6 years ago, I joined their Board of Directors. I am a passionate supporter of this agency and I have committed to raising $1,000 to support Learning Web programs. My challenge is related to my passion, swimming. I will swim a 5,000 yard workout—that’s 200 lengths of the pool. I am asking you to support me in my challenge and help me to reach my fundraising goal. If you donated $5, you’d be supporting one lap. If you donate $100, you’d support 20 laps. Or, donate anything you can afford to support my challenge and help this great agency thrive!
